El Paso Chamber Welcomes Brigadier General Sean C. Bernabe to Fort Bliss

 In News

On behalf of the President and CEO of the El Paso Chamber and the Military and Veterans Affairs Committee of the Chamber, we are pleased to welcome Brigadier General Sean C. Bernabe to Fort Bliss. Bernabe took command of the 1st Armored Division on Wednesday and comes to El Paso from Europe where his previous assignment was as Deputy Commanding General, US Army Europe.

The Chamber acknowledges the role of Brigadier General Matthew L. Eichburg and is grateful for his leadership between commands of Bernabe and previous commander, Major General Patrick E. Matlock. The EPC has long maintained an excellent relationship with post leadership and over the course of Matlock’s tenure at Fort Bliss, the Chamber was focused on serving as a conduit for post/community relations and providing business networks for post personnel, including the welcoming of every class of participants and their spouses at the Sergeants Major Academy, working to create employment opportunities for Army spouses and service veterans, and a continued, vociferous and dynamic advocacy for the post in Washington, D.C.

“We not only value the commitment our servicemembers make to the country, we value their presence and impact in our community. El Paso has long been a proud military town and I am pleased to say the Chamber has helped drive that support,” explained President and CEO David Jerome. He added, “We look forward to the same robust partnership with General Bernabe that we had with General Matlock and are prepared to add to the richness of the Army’s presence in El Paso.”

The Military and Veterans Affairs Committee (MVAC) in the Chamber, led by Ben Miranda [Endeavors] and Karl Murphy [First Light Federal Credit Union], drives much of the agenda for how the Chamber works with and supports Fort Bliss and the broader, regional defense community. The MVAC along with Chamber staff welcome General Bernabe’s arrival and are here to welcome him into our community. With change, the Chamber leads the way in responding to and supporting Fort Bliss, the US Army and the military and veteran’s community regionally.
