Junior Leadership El Paso (JRLEP)

Created by the El Paso Chamber’s Leadership El Paso program, Junior Leadership El Paso (JrLEP) is an innovative program for area high school juniors who show interest and potential in becoming El Paso’s next generation of leaders. Students receive an engaging, hands-on educational experience that covers El Paso’s issues, history, challenges, and opportunities. Participants tour the region and meet face-to-face with some of the area’s key stakeholders in business, government, the arts, health care, education, the military, and economic development.

JrLEP is a 501(c)3 and continues to fulfill its promise to be an innovative program for local students with the potential to become El Paso’s next generation of leaders.

Due to COVID-19, Junior Leadership El Paso is currently evaluating how to proceed with the application and recruitment process as well as the program for 2020-2021. To receive updates, click here.

Congratulations to Junior Leadership Class 17!

For their capstone project, the 2019-2020 cohort collected toiletry items for the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence. Despite the challenge of collecting donations during COVID-19’s shelter-in-place orders, JrLEP 17 persevered, working closely with the shelter to organize staggered drop-off times and ensure the shelter did not experience a shortage of supplies. On May 22, 2020, the El Paso Chamber lit the Star on the Mountain in honor of their graduation.
